Hi, I’m Ashley Steele, Stone Ward’s digital strategist and I’m here to share with you the top three things you should know about SEO in 2019. If you’re like many of our clients, you’re probably either semi-familiar with SEO or wondering what the heck it really is. Here are the top three things you’ll want to look for and invest in your SEO:
- The No. 1 thing you’re going to want to look for is relevancy. Google can predict intent, now and doesn’t really care if you’ve written 100 blog posts about your top subject or five. But what Google does care about is your content and if it’s relevant to the user based on what they were originally searching for. To meet the standard, make sure your site meets the EAT or E-A-T algorithms standards, also known as expertise, authority and trustworthiness. It’s better to have quality content over quantity of content. Please don’t write a blog just to write a blog. You have to trust me on this one.
- The second area you’ll want to focus on for 2019 are modifiers. Have you ever been at lunch and pulled your phone out and typed ‘best restaurant for lunch?’ How about ‘best restaurant for lunch near me?’ If so, you just used two different modifiers; best and near me. This will influence what results you receive and who shows up for these results.
- Now, for our final 2019 SEO item research, it seems obvious, but this step is oftentimes skipped. It is vitally important for you to understand what your audience is searching for and to provide relevant high-quality content that answers their questions or provides additional resources. Get to know who these people actually are and craft custom content for them that will benefit you both in the long run.
