John has the title of CFO and Treasurer but that is only a part of his impact around the agency. His primary responsibility is the financial health of the agency and that includes ensuring that client budgets and billings are completely transparent, accurate, timely, fully-reconciled, and accountable. With 35 years of financial management experience, including 22 years at Stone Ward, he is a trusted resource for clients, vendors, and team members. John also manages human resources for the agency, assuring that our benefits are valuable and relevant and that our company ESOP is well-managed.

Prior to joining Stone Ward, John was SVP, CIO and Assistant Treasurer at TCBY, the original and best-known frozen yogurt franchise. He was part of the management team when the brand skyrocketed in unit growth and national popularity gaining valuable hands-on experience on the inner workings of one of the most successful franchise businesses in the QSR and high growth multi unit retail sectors. He uses that experience to counsel clients and staff in strategy, operations, and brand building. Additionally, his experience as Chief Information Officer helps guide data, technology, and digital transformation strategies from an insider perspective.

John was named CFO of the Year by Arkansas Business and is highly regarded as a financial leader by AMIN, a worldwide alliance of independent marketing agencies, serving as a member of the AAAA’s agency finance committee and speaking at both AAAA’s and AMIN agency conferences on a variety of critical agency financial management topics.

A true ambassador of Building Good, John serves on the Heart of Arkansas United Way Board of Directors, holding past titles of treasurer and chairman. He’s volunteered his time as past president for Communities in Schools of Arkansas and for a national men’s prison ministry. John is a serial hobbyist, and enjoys woodcarving, furniture-making, golfing and fly fishing.
