Instagram now gives users the ability to share a complete picture of their experiences with a new twist on their classic feed. As of February 22, 2017, Instagrammers can share multiple photos and videos in one post. “You no longer have to choose the single best photo or video from an experience you want to remember,” Instagram writes. Now, users can combine up to 10 photos and videos in one post and allow followers to swipe through to see them all.

When uploading to the feed, Instagram users will see a new icon to select multiple photos and videos. According to Instagram, it’s easy to control exactly how your post will look. Users can tap and hold to change the order, apply a filter to everything at once or edit one by one. These posts have a single caption and for now, are square-only. On the profile grid, you’ll notice the first photo or video of your post has a little icon, which means there’s more to see. In feed, you’ll see blue dots at the bottom of these posts to let you know you can swipe to see more. You can like and comment on them just like a regular post.

Instagram suggests that you could use the new feature to “share your favorite moments of your best friend’s surprise birthday party, from setting up to when they walk through the door. Or create a step-by-step cake recipe that people can always find on your profile.”

Instagram first launched photo ad carousel posts back in 2015 and expanded those to include video last year. Now they can share up to 10 images, not just 5. By bringing this ability to users, Instagram might be trying to familiarize users with the practice of swiping on posts, this could get more users exploring the rest of these carousel ads, which is good news for brands!
