Stone Ward Leader Reaches New Heights on Unique Mountain Climb

November 24, 2009:

Stone Ward’s Tom Lillig, Director of Account Management of the agency’s Chicago office, is living the agency’s mantra “Building Good.”  Lillig recently returned from Mexico after he successfully climbed North America’s 7th highest mountain, Iztaccíhuatl (5,230m; 17,159ft) and in the process helped break down the barriers and misperceptions between those with and without disabilities.  Tom

Lillig helped lead an extraordinary group of blind and sighted travelers from both Mexico and the United States on this incredible trek, November 6-14. The team of 20 climbers included famous blind adventurer Erik Weihenmayer, who has been featured on Oprah and the cover of Time Magazine as the only blind person to reach each continent’s highest peak.

Lillig serves as Board President of educational nonprofit Global Explorers which organized the climb.

“When people of different abilities and from different cultures come together around a common cause, we break down those invisible barriers of what divides us and realize the potential of what is possible.  This experience will be something that all of us will take with us for the rest of their lives, and it might just serve as a model for the rest of the world to follow,” he stated.group_at_summit[1]
